I’m Nicole Lemire (she/her), LAc, EAMP, a Licensed Acupuncturist and eternal student of life, health, and wellness and a deep interest in reproductive health, fertility and pregnancy.
One of my first encounters with acupuncture was through a friend’s health journey. At age 24, she had never had a natural period. She had been diagnosed with PCOS, put on birth control at the age of 16, and had been told she would never have a natural period without external hormones. After 8 years of being on birth control, she decided she didn’t want to continue taking pills forever.
Despite doubt from her doctor, she decided to seek care from an acupuncturist. Within a month of receiving acupuncture and taking Chinese herbs, she got her period naturally for the first time. She went from receiving treatments weekly, to monthly, to not needing it at all, while her body has continued to heal and self-regulate – something she had been told would never happen. Her story helped inspire me to study acupuncture.
East Asian medicine formed out of observation and study of the natural world, its cycles, and how those factors influence the human body and spirit. My philosophy of health revolves around healing relationships — between various parts of the body, between the individual and their environment, and among all living things.
Balance and the ability to transition smoothly through different seasons and cycles is the key to health and what we seek to achieve through acupuncture. Through our sessions, we will work together to find balance within your body to allow it to move smoothly through whatever phase of life you are currently in: the cycles of menstruation, nourishing fertility, easing pregnancy, rebuilding during the postpartum phase, or transitioning into menopause.
During sessions together, I will use gentle needling techniques, moxibustion, and craniosacral therapy to encourage your body toward relaxation and harmony. We will work together to create lifestyle changes to achieve your health goals.
When I’m not in the clinic, I’ll be learning in the garden, playing in the ocean, dancing, and exploring. Observation and interaction with the natural world continues to inform my practice and my life.
