My name is Maria Hunter, AEMP, Dipl OM, FABORM, MAcOM (she/her) and I have dedicated my career to supporting reproductive wellness, preconception, pregnancy and the post partum time. I have completed extensive post graduate studies in both fertility and pregnancy care. I am a FABORM, Fellow of the Acupuncture and TCM Board of Reproductive Medicine a, MAMPS graduate and OBAA member.
I love working with women, women identifying, and gender non binary folx to help regulate cycles and hormones, alleviate symptoms that occur throughout the month, and support the spirit during the journey. I’m here for the ups and downs and in-betweens, there is space for all of you and all that you are going through in my practice. I know the path to reproductive wellness looks different for each person and I am here to support you whether you are wanting to have more regular cycles or less pain with menses, are looking for help supporting your fertility for successful conception and pregnancy, or are going through IVF and looking for ways to manage side effects and boost chances of success.
Everyone deserves to have a family if that is their desire – I am here to support you in whichever way that presents itself and to the places it leads you. I take lots of time with each patient to really understand what is going on and to tailor plans and prescriptions to your specific needs. Chinese medicine is a whole person medicine system, meaning we focus on your whole self when we are working towards your goals, not just symptom management. The whole body is connected, there is room for the whole self and everything it entails in my practice.
My route to Chinese medicine was not a direct one. I began my path to this beautiful medicine by first studying pre-med at the University of Washington. My interest in the socio economic implications on health and health of communities led me to find public and global health. I believe that healthy individuals allow for healthy communities. After graduating with a degree in Public health, working on farms, preforming with a traveling dance company for a couple years, and starting a local foods focused catering company, I eventually found my way to Chinese medicine by way of my own healing.
I completed my Masters degree at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, Oregon in 2018 after which I spent time working and further studying in Nanjing, China. I had the great privilege of working with Dr. Gao, the foremost gynecological specialist in Chinese medicine, in the province. One of the wonderful things about the Chinese hospitals is the ability to work cohesively with western medicine and all of its fantastic testing and imaging. The time spent working in her clinic taught me the incredible value and strength of integrating Chinese and Western Medicine. I enjoy working in concert with a variety of health providers to find the best solutions for your health and your goals.
I am here to help you feel better in your body and spirit. I am here to nurture you on your way to becoming a parent. I am here after the birth to support you in major life transitions. I look forward to working with and supporting you on your path.
