Acupuncture is just one tool under the larger umbrella of Chinese Medicine and likely just one of the tools we will be using during your course of care! Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine have a history that is over 5000 years old. Over time, Acupuncture has evolved into the therapy that we use today, consisting of single use, sterile, stainless steel needles no thicker than a dogs whisker. It is a therapy that can involve the insertion of these small needles into the skin to initiate a healing response. There are also non-insertion methods, whereby the practitioner uses needles or other tools to facilitate a response in the body without placing needles in the body.
Acupuncture has been proven to be safe, effective and inexpensive. In addition to a decrease in their chief concerns, most patients find the experience to be supremely relaxing and often fall asleep during their treatment!
Response, frequency and length of treatments depends greatly on the condition being treated, the length of time the condition has been going on, and the underlying state of health of each patient. Based on your response to care, we will develop an individualized plan to meet your health goals and needs.
